Welcome to The Flemish Republic

Why the Belgian federation should be dissolved and Flanders should become an independent state.

Flemings 1st

05/12/2010 :: It is evident that the traditional parties have failed to live up to their promises. Although they made strong pro-Flemish promises, they never dared to show the political courage that is needed for a drastic reform of the state.

“All problems in this country are related to oppositions between the Flemish and francophone community”, Vlaams Belang chairman Bruno Valkeniers said. “The other political parties plead for ‘reforms’ or ‘confederalism’ , but for Vlaams Belang, there is no longer a future for Belgium. Flemish independence is the only option.”

Vlaams Belang has presented its campaign for the upcoming snap elections on June 13th. “Flemings First” is our campaign slogan. Short but powerful, “Flemings 1st” expresses what these elections are all about: the current government crisis has made it clear once again that the Flemings should go their own way and declare independence. “Belgium is a disease and Flemish independence is the remedy”, Filip Dewinter stated.

Other main themes of our party will of course also be put on the political agenda: criminality, immigration and islamization. Vlaams Belang has had a significant influence on the government policy, with for example the recent burka ban, the ban on headscarves in public schools and the abolishment of the federal instruction on the regularization procedure. And then there is of course the fact that, thanks to our party, more and more Flemings have become in favor of Flemish independence. Already a majority of the Flemings thinks that there is no more future for Belgium.

With every election, the numerical order in which the political parties appear on the ballot is determined by drawing lots. Vlaams Belang has now been given number one, which is a lucky coincidence given our campaign slogan “Flemings 1st”. On June 13th: Flemings 1st on number one!
